A local plastic surgeon was known as “the best in the state,” with 5-star reviews from hundreds of patients in the Tri-State Area. Unfortunately, his office had not increased their sales in over five years, despite the positive community feedback. An office staff member recognized the market in the Brazilian population, but the question was raised, “How could we offer our services safely to a patient that does not speak English proficiently?” The staff member contacted us, and we were already familiar with the domain of plastic surgery having interpreted in that context for our other clients. Within one week, we had identified a certified medical interpreter, credentialed with their community interpreting certificate, that would be a great fit for this office, someone who seamlessly would transition into their surgery team department and culture. Once the connection was established, the office was able to market to this subgroup and within weeks our first Brazilian Portuguese appointment was underway. To date, this office has improved their bottom line by partnering with us to serve a community that otherwise would have been travelling out of state to take advantage of these services.
